Listening To Spravato™ Expands Clinical-Music Research as Compass Pathways Emerges as a Potential Rival to SPRAVATO®

MONTCLAIR, NJ

Listening To Spravato LLC, a clinical-music research company, today announced an expansion of its research program to investigate Compass Pathways' proprietary compound, COMP360 — the 360th compound studied by Compass Pathways and a potential alternative or complement to SPRAVATO® (esketamine) for treatment-resistant depression.

As the first clinical-music company to establish therapeutic sound design protocols for esketamine treatment, Listening To Spravato™ has built a body of work used across thousands of treatment sessions in the United States. Its protocols govern the design and integration of music systems for the full arc of the SPRAVATO® experience — from the preparatory Onset phase through the dissociative Peak and into the re-integrative Return. As COMP360 and similar compounds move toward clinical use, those protocols will need to evolve.

"The application of SPRAVATO® involves a unique sensory experience that a patient can verbally describe as sound or music," said Justin Page, founder of Listening To Spravato LLC. "Like SPRAVATO®, each dissociative profile will have a unique sound architecture that reflects that compound's sensory experience. Clinical music can't be interchanged for a different compound. Each compound has to be developed independently."

Differences in how COMP360 produces dissociation — including the speed of onset, the emotional character of the peak state, and the depth of perceptual alteration — will directly affect the safe-use parameters for clinical music. If COMP360 produces psychedelic-like effects beyond those typical of SPRAVATO®, the music used during treatment will need to be designed to manage that expanded sensory profile, not simply adapted from existing esketamine playlists.

Listening To Spravato LLC is currently conducting research into the potential auditory needs of COMP360 treatment, including descriptions of COMP360 sensory experiences, clinically safe soundscapes, preferred auditory experiences, and the integration of music psychotherapy frameworks appropriate for psychedelic-adjacent states. The company is also developing requirements for multi-modal treatment room design — the acoustic and audiovisual infrastructure that will be needed to support next-generation dissociative therapies.

Looking further ahead, Listening To Spravato LLC anticipates that treatment centers will increasingly need clinical-music systems capable of supporting multiple compounds simultaneously — each with its own sensory profile and its own evidence-based playlist architecture. "Our goal is to supply treatment centers with music that provides patients undergoing various therapies with a safe, dependable, and clinically appropriate auditory environment," Page said. "If Compass becomes a competing product to SPRAVATO®, Listening To LLC would develop evidence-based clinical-music solutions for it."

SPRAVATO® was the first treatment to establish and protect patients' right to music as part of the therapeutic experience. Compass may be the second. The architecture to support that right — the protocols, the phase frameworks, the safety evaluations, and the engineering standards — is already being built by Listening To Spravato LLC.

"Clinical music can't be interchanged for a different compound. Each compound has to be developed independently."

— Justin Page, Founder, Listening To Spravato LLC

Conservatory-Trained Musician and Presidential Scholar Releases Groundbreaking Memoir on Spravato Treatment and the Unexpected Power of Therapeutic Listening

Montclair, NJ

Author and musician Justin Page, a United States Presidential Scholar in the Arts, announces the release of Listening to Spravato, a deeply personal and musically informed account of undergoing Spravato (esketamine) treatment for severe depression. The book offers an unusually intimate look at ketamine-based therapy at a moment when psychedelic-adjacent treatments are rapidly entering mainstream mental-health conversations.

Page never intended to write a book. The project began spontaneously on the day he returned home from his first Spravato session — an experience that shifted his perception so profoundly that he felt compelled to document it. Listening to Spravato blends raw honesty, humor, and a musician's sensitivity to sound, creating a narrative that is both emotionally resonant and artistically distinctive.

The memoir arrives at a time when ketamine-based therapies are expanding nationwide, yet few firsthand accounts exist that describe the treatment from inside the patient's mind. Page's perspective adds depth to ongoing discussions about accessibility, stigma, and the evolving landscape of mental-health care.

Listening to Spravato is available now through major online retailers.

"Spravato didn't just interrupt my depression — it opened a door I didn't know existed. As a musician, I found myself listening to the treatment as much as experiencing it. The book grew out of that unexpected intersection between sound, healing, and identity."

— Justin Page, author of Listening to Spravato
